Portland — More “change” from the community organizer is coming. With the voodoo science of global warming as his excuse, Obama has decided to transform the way Americans travel and blackmail the bankrupt auto industry….the same auto industry he said just a few short months ago was too big to be allowed to fail….the same auto industry he used American taxpayer dollars to nationalize….the same auto industry that Obama “loaned” $15.4 billion of our taxpayer dollars too and is now willing to “forgive” those loans.

This is Obama’s idea of how to run a business. First he nationalizes the auto industry with American’s money. Second, he makes the newly nationalized industry produce the kind of cars he wants everyone to drive, not catering to consumers but forced to by his legislation. Third, he passes laws telling people what kind of cars they have to drive. All in the name of what is good for everyone….whether it is true or not. And what a salesman he is. The new, smaller cars will cost more by an average of $1300.00 but he is hawking his wares by saying "This is a winning proposition for folks looking to buy a car…..Over the life of a vehicle, the typical driver would save about $2,800 by getting better gas mileage."

Obama, the President of a country so far in debt because of 50 years of gradual socialization, accompanied by auto executives in charge of a failing industry as well as the governor of California (Schwarzenegger) who runs a state $15 billion dollars in debt, held a press conference touting how wonderful it was to have all these folks together. Failures that live the life styles of the rich and famous have united to tell everyone else how to live their lives. Now that’s the kind of Change I’m talkin about.

We will be forced to drive vehicles that are smaller and more dangerous, “…the Clean Air and Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) standards. As they've gotten ratcheted up, the cheapest way to get more gas-efficient automobiles was to make smaller cars. So for many years automobile manufacturers made smaller cars, and it was estimated that this cost between 1500 and 2000 extra deaths a year on the highway”, according to enviroliteracy.org. Also, “the changes will make pickup trucks so much more expensive that they will be used almost exclusively for work”, says Eric Fedewa, vice president of the auto consulting firm global powertrain. “And instead of a minivan or SUV, more parents will haul their families in much smaller vehicles”, so says myway.com. The article goes on to say, “Of course, developing the technology will cost money - billions of dollars - and automakers will pass that on to their customers.”

These are more examples of how everyone is expected to “sacrifice” for the good of the state; that is everyone except for the ruling class who will keep their limos and jumbo jets. Americans are expected to spend more…. expected to give up personal comfort…. expected to give up their very lives…for the agenda of a few who crave power and control above all. Obama wants the government to run businesses and control the money. Author Arthur Seldon put it best; “Socialism is a vast machine for churning out piles of goods marked Take it or leave it”. America, welcome to socialism.
