Portland — Just today I read a commentary by Les Otten on the possibility of Maine becoming energy self-sufficient for the future. It was with great interest that such men as he give their new comments on such subjects; similarly, Former Gov. King posted Wind power comments back in the winter of '08, and like these new comments they lack one very basic structure, crediblity. Mr. Otten has no intension of allowing local communities or individuals of producing their own cheap electric power; on the contrary, he hopes to profit from it. As he writes about the need and the ability of the State of Maine to become a self sufficient maker of power; his history proves that he wishes for the success of those that squander such self-sufficiency for the profit of the few. He presently is speaking to Energy Czar John Kerry to pass and support laws which will make common folks forced to buy power from the 'big three' within our State. A former PUC Director gave up his job in this State to become a spokesperson for a Mass. energy consultant firm; although he has no training in energy production, transmission or alternative energy systems. And Former Gov. King is of the same ilk, while Gov. of Maine he allowed for the increases of individual rates for power , the reduction of in-State power production, the begining of the backlog in infrastructure to support all types of business within our State. His new (Otten's) apparent energy ideas will in fact make power more expensive for the residents of Maine. Note: That solar, Wind, Tidal and Geo-thermal energies are actually much cheaper to build, sustain and run, overall; so why the increase in money- it's called personal greed.
