The club made 15 cat mats to donate to the Refuge League.

Gorham — I was sewing a 'cat mat' for the kitties that live in cages at the Animal Refuge League at my 4-H club meeting yesterday. We made the mats to make the kitties comfortable because at the Refuge League the cages there are not comfortable because the cages are hard and not soft so we made cat mats.

We had to sew 2 pieces of material together with the cotton batting inside. And then we had clip the corners and turn the mats inside-out like a pillow. And then we had to iron it to flatten out the mat and then we hand-sewed the open part of the mat closed. Then we took embroidery thread and we tacked 6 spots on the mat so that when the mats are washed, the cotton inside doesn't bunch up.

We're going to bring the cat mats we made to the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook this week. My club made 15 cat mats at our meeting yesterday for the kitties.
